Poor stain resistance on interior surfaces

Problem - Poor stain resistance on interior surfaces
Failure of the paint to resist absorption of dirt and stains.

Possible causes

  • Paint applied on an unprimed surface.
  • Paint type unsuitable for the surface.

Good quality interior acrylate paints contain more binders, which prevent stain absorption of and make cleaning the paint film easier. Undercoating new surfaces will enhance the durability of the paint film and allow thicker coats to be applied. This way, the paint film is easy to clean.

Clean the surface with Tikkurila Maalipesu (Cleaning Agent) according to instructions on the label, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.

Sand the surface and remove the dust and residue. Smooth the surface and apply primer to the clean wooden surfaces. Finish with a suitable Tikkurila paint according to instructions. The glossier the finish, the better its durability and washability.
